Reimagining Coastal Living

Reimagining Coastal Living

SOL is a landmark Maroochydore development designed by Plus Architecture in collaboration with Walker, featuring two 19-storey towers, 248 residences and vibrant retail spaces. It offers a new vision for coastal living centred on community and wellbeing.

“Our vision was to create the highest quality residences with shared spaces that bring people together, all connected to landscaped communal areas, shops, restaurants and transport,” says Peter Saba, Walker Group Executive of Development. “From multigenerational families to first home buyers and downsizers, SOL is drawing a broad mix of residents, laying the foundations for a strong community.”

“At SOL, we set out to explore how apartment living can strengthen the connection between people, place and nature,” says Kate Ockwell, Associate at Plus Architecture. “Through a layered design process, the communal areas support wellbeing, connection and creativity. We’ve elevated these spaces so they become the heart of the development, creating a framework where community naturally forms.”

Shared spaces include a rooftop terrace with panoramic views, resort-style pool, wellness facilities, gardens, fire pits, co-working hub, Zen Lounge and private dining. “We’ve designed multiple facilities that support different modes of connection,” says Kate. “The Zen Lounge allows for both solo relaxation and casual interaction, while the private dining room is adaptable for formal dinners or relaxed brunches. SOL responds to the collective desire for meaningful connection.”

Nature is embedded throughout, from the living green façade and rooftop gardens to breezeways filled with light and planting. “The materials and finishes reflect the Sunshine Coast’s natural character, helping residents feel grounded and connected,” says Kate.

Art and storytelling further enhance the shared spaces. Local artworks and coastal-inspired details create a distinct sense of place. “Luxury isn’t just what you see but how it makes you feel, as both an individual and alongside others,” Kate adds. “Communal spaces shape collective identity, comfort and community over time.”

SOL sets a new benchmark for community-focused coastal living on the Sunshine Coast.
